It seems everyone knows Bubba Pleasant. At least in these parts. Apparently they know him in Washington too because Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) both made a point of being at Bubba's Fish Fry.

It was a great event and I can't wait until next year. I've added a few pictures in the Randomness section of the photo gallery.

We had a great 4th of July. We started out the day attending a Patriotic / Memorial Breakfast at Arlington Town Hall. The breakfast was in honor of  Lt. Commander Tracy DeWitt, former President of the NE Shelby County Republican Club. He passed away earlier this year. Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) attended as did several other elected officials.

Grayson dressed up in his 4th Of July outfit and I've uploaded some pictures so you can see it. Notice he FINALLY got two bottom teeth in.

Well, a week ago the deck was completed. It's taken me that long to recover. It was a big project that turned even bigger once it got started. Did I mention the temperatures hit 95 degrees all week? It was supposed to be simple deck. It turned into the Deck-Mahal. It's over 500 square feet of wood and nails with a trellis, swing, and wrap-around stairs.

When the deck was done we built window screens to block the sun as it beats down in the afternoon. The result was miraculous. It allows the air conditioner to actually keep up now.

Now that the deck is done I can sit back and say that all is good. I can also say that I wish we had waited a week. The temperatures are in the low 80's this week. Oh well...
